Never mind, the trailmarker got accepted this time! That should create a new Gym very close to my home, hopefully so that I don’t have to walk at least a km to reach a Gym!
On the other hand, if a stupid location gets picked again, I won’t take that lightly. This is my one and only chance to get a Gym nearby, so if it fails, I won’t be happy…
What a great sight to see, though. Bottom one says “Appealed”. That’s how long it took.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to see my hopefully new home Gym until next week because I’ll be on holiday before the new Gym goes live. But I have all my hopes up it’s going to go well.
According to the map I’m using the new Gym is live but it doesn’t show which one… and since I’m not at home, it’ll be a week or so until I do know. I really don’t like that there’s no way to see which Stop turned into a Gym.
Turns out the 20th stop in the Level 14 S2 Cell DID NOT create a Gym for whatever reason that may be. Good grief, on a daily basis I ask myself why I still haven’t deleted this game…
I expected the absolute worst location to be picked which would never get me a Gym close to home anymore, and it STILL GOT WORSE THAN THAT.
All those hours, those years, wasted on NOTHING. And then they say hard work pays off. Not for this game, hard work grants you nothing, or even less than that. Niantic really needs to fix their #%$£%# game.
Did another 7 noms on the weekend. None of these will create Gyms. Just adding more stops to areas I regularly drive past to spin on the GoPlus.
Of the last 12 I dumped 2 weeks there is 4 still undergoing voting still. 1 was flagged as duplicate as an edit I did on a Gym has not gone through yet . It’s annoying when the location of the Poi in the game is on another valid Poi and they are in separate cells. The one in the game is around 20m off the actual Poi.
My options to fix this problem are:
Get the Poi position moved into its correct spot.
Or
Edit the Photo to the Poi it’s currently on.
Edit the Title & description
Edit anything else required to match the Poi it’s on.
I can see this one is going to frustrate me.
Been spending the night reading about the issue and found three articles of somebody not getting a 3rd Gym after 20 POI. Any reasons I’ve seen given don’t apply to me. I read a claim that the 21st stop DID create a new Gym, but that’s worthless to me, as there IS no 21st POI. Well, to some degree, because there actually is one, but it would require another POI to be moved by 0,000001m to the right to fall into a different cell - which is somehow impossible. It HaS To Be PeRfEcTlY In ThE MidDlE… Still it has to be done otherwise I can never get my long deserved Gym. Let’s just keep it at I will never see the Gym I’ve been trying to get since 2019. This game is so frustrating
Took the matter to a more dedicated forum, in fact, a forum completely dedicated to Wayfarer, and we figured out the issue. It turns out Niantic cut off the sync because of New Year’s. According to Campfire, which I somehow cannot access in Pokémon GO but I can access in Ingress, there is a third Gym chosen, and the best part is, it’s my home Stop that turned into a Gym! I suspected as much, because it both had the most likes, and is the oldest Stop there, and probably the most used as well, but it’s still relief to know it’s actually become a Gym. That’s to a good start of 2023.
When it will actually become a Gym I don’t know, probably when Niantic fixes the sync if they haven’t done so already, and then I might have to let the system update itself but that’s alright.
I will invite you all to my new barbeque. Fuel will be Zekrom, meat will be Reshiram and the dessert will be some tasty Dame Blanche with Regice Ice Cream!
And the best part is you can join (in taking them down)!
I wish I had your persistence… my efforts to get a home gym (or I’d settle for a stop!) have been hampered, in part, by the use of a common language.
You see the rules set out in Wayfarer state that ‘trails’ and ‘trail markers’ are acceptable as Pokestop submissions.
But we don’t call them that in the UK - and the clowns who do the reviewing (when they are not being outright malicious) don’t have the common sense to realise that ‘footpaths’ and ‘bridleways’ are the same goddamn thing!
My village is surrounded by an extensive network of footpaths to other villages and ‘conservation areas’ (another thing they won’t accept - through a fundamental misunderstanding of the language) and yet every time I submit a green Footpath sign or a yellow Footpath Marker it gets rejected forthwith! .
I must admit most trailmarkers are extremely hard to get through, and today another two got rejected for me, but it’s fine as they look more like stickers than trailmarkers so I cannot really blame them. They’ll get accepted at some point and I don’t need to rush because they won’t get Gyms up anyway. I also got six others already accepted, of which five in one go, and the other in nine tries. Took long enough
Which was also the one that got me my home gym.
Anyway, I’m glad I don’t have a language barrier like that here in Dutch we only call them “richtingaanwijzer”. And then I usually put “wandelroute” behind it which means “trail”. Although if reviewers from surrounding counties happen to review them they may wonder what that means.
It’s also true that half of the reviewers don’t even know trailmarkers are eligible, and to be honest, I’m pretty sure that’s not listed anywhere either, so it’s also kind of Niantic’s fault. I may be my sticker kinda trailmarkers aren’t even eligible, but that doesn’t stop me. It does take a lot to get them through, though. I think I have around 1500 letters in the additional info thingy where I tell them to Google on the text on those sticker trailmarkers so they can see they are indeed trailmarkers, and that they are eligible because they support exploration and exercise - Niantic’s words - and then a LOOOONG list of why some common rejection reasons don’t apply and I just copy paste this text for every trailmarker I happen to nominate.
It’s not an easy process, but I’d say it’s worth a try. Especially if it may net you a home stop.
Also, maybe you could tell them footpaths and trails are the same thing?
Just got another Gym added to the game and made another costumer happy with a home Gym which I promised I’d make happen. Spent years nominating, but in the end it was all worth it.
Just counted, I helped creating 17 Gyms so far, of which two came in today. I’m going to try to get that at least to 25 this year. Another goal for 2023. Definitely gonna take a while, though.
I stopped chatting my creations in a spreadsheet 4 months ago.
It might be easy enough to up date it from my Wayferer as I’ve be to all the places and know weather it was a Gym or Stop created.
On side note. Another Pokestop went live this morning not far from home from that group of 12. Only 3 remain in voting which strangely are all 600km from home in another State from my Golf holiday in October. They are in a regional country town. All my nom from county towns in my own State go through the system in under a week normally. These 3 are now 3 weeks since uploading.
Half of my 8 locals from the weekend have gone into voting already.
I’m thinking of trying to persuade my State Manger who happens to be a friend to push for a Mural to be painted on our Fire Tank that sits on the fence line and while on our Factory property can be safely/easily reached from the footpath. You could almost touch the tank through the wire mesh fence it’s that close.
There’s currently no Stops or Gyms in the Cell around my work. I’ve only found one other Poi that while not 5 star strong should get through.
All nominations from December 28th resolved, so there’s nothing for me to wait on anymore (apart from Appeals). Obviously the location edit of two millimeters was rejected again, because imagine not having the pin exactly in the middle of the object. But still I’m glad with the results as it got two new Gyms added.
Not having the pin in the middle of the Poi .
When I’ve got a bit more time I’ll get some pics of one at home that is 10-15m away from the middle of the Poi. In fact it’s not even in the cell of the Poi but in the adjacent cell near what is a different Poi
Yeah, my goal initially was to get it in another Cell so another POI in the cell would see daylight and on December 28th that would also mean a new Gym would come but now that Gym is already there so I won’t be bothered anymore. Anyway, the POI I nominated is hardly a meter long in real life, so in the game it’s literally centimeters, and it has to be moved not even to the edge of the thing to fall into a different cell, so I only had to move it so slightly that it would be just off the middle, but so unnoticably off I would’ve thought it should be the easiest ever, but how wrong I was. Ten times rejected I think? Niantic calls it abuse, I call it clever, and don’t even see how it’s abuse as the pin is still on the POI, but I thought it was worth a try, going to stop now though because it doesn’t even matter anymore. The stop would be in a ridiculous location nobody ever comes anyway so I’m no longer going to try it.
To be honest I just think the cell system is stupid in general, why block POI from becoming Pokestops? It’s not that it’d make the game too easy, it’s just QoL features we’re missing out on, especially those in rural areas. And also, among them could be some great POI as well, rather than all the trailmarkers, playgrounds and footbridges I’ve seen, which are probably interesting to nobody and only serve as extra stops. I myself know a church here that didn’t make it as a stop, but instead we got a sign about some history nobody’s really read anyway. And also a bunker from a World War that didn’t make it because some kind of fancy described fence already did. Also a bunch of war monuments and memorables here that didn’t make it. These are interesting, and would make much more valuable stops. Now I’m not saying all trailmarkers, playgrounds and footbridges shouldn’t be stops, but they are definitely less interesting, if at all, whereas at the same time some really valuable stops are lost forever because of those cells.
Current Wayfarer statistics. Can’t say I’ve been doing bad. 62% rejected later accepted also shows that my nominations are almost always eligible. I will say not all of them are, there’s a couple (I think 4-5?) I eventually declared ineligible myself which I all nominated back in 2019. There’s also a couple I am yet to get through and a couple I haven’t bothered to renominate anymore or found something else in the cell that was easier to nominate and went with that instead.
7 of 8 recent local nominations have all been been accepted as of today. Including one that had previously been rejected over a year ago.
Got 2 to upload on phone plus a list of 5 I might nominate this weekend. Would need to double check but I don’t think any will create Gyms.
I’m waiting for notification on a title edit on the only in Game Poi in the Cell before I can nominate the only other Poi in that Cell that has only appeared in the last 2 months. That one will create a new Gym.
