Lets talk - (anything)

Oops :grimacing: Looks like Niantic just destroyed its own gameā€¦ :flushed::scream:

That could very well be the case. I know my own continued play absolutely depends on remote raids, though; so it almost certainly destroys the game for me. (I do not believe their reduction of remote raids will stop at this 5 per-day limitā€¦)

While this does not destroy the game for me, I will be participating in the boycott by both shutting off the faucet for money as well as limiting the data they get from my gameplay. Essentially, they will be getting only about half of the data from me.

Iā€™ve already told my Discord group that I will no longer participate in any Remote Raids during the duration of the boycott, which for me starting this afternoon. Any remaining coins I have will be dedicated to incubators only, but one that well dries up, itā€™s done.

Niantic needs to learn that making decisions like these have ghastly consequences. Refusal to learn is at their peril.

Have I missed something?
Or is it just about the Remote Raid Cap that was coming is now live?

Remote Raid cap and BIG price increases too.
Check out Hubā€™s main news page, or in-game news section for details.

Several people from my friends list have completely disappeared - including Level 50 stalwarts - I guess they have uninstalled the game as a protestā€¦ :face_with_monocle:

They have already destroyed their game multiple times before. It just looks like they want the game to end at this point.

The best part of this change is Niantic wants to support in-person raiding by this change, yet Iā€™m always relying on remote raiders to join through Poke Genie, even if I already am with somebody. So this change will literally have me raid less in-person, which is the EXACT OPPOSITE of their ā€˜goalsā€™. What a clowns really.

I started my Raid protest long before the Raid Cap due to the constant poor IV rubbish.
Rubbish PokƩmon and rubbish IV made sure I saw poor value for time spent.
Unless it has some Meta relevance and/or helps me win Raids much quicker Ive become a 1 and done player. Re-release of Shiny I couldnā€™t care about either.
I done even bother to use my Daily Free Pass anymore.

There were continuous news about the millions Niantic was gaining. And really anybody thinks that leveling up the prices works educational in users?
First in Germany, and later in Spain they tried to lower the amount of smokers powering up the prices of tobacco. Apart of the governments living from the taxes of tobacco, the number of users has not changed essentially.
So, Niantic really thinks they will change the intentions of the users, or itā€™s just they will win more money without changing nothing in the game?

One major disappointment among many for me is that I had devoted most of my Rare Candy for over two years to building up my Metagross squad ā€“ two full raid teams of Level 40 with Meteor Mash ā€“ getting ready for Black Kyurem. A PokĆ©mon that never made it to the game.

Maybe Niantic is hell-bent on having BK be an EX raid, but they canā€™t get enough of us to raid locally for them to justify restarting EX raids.

The cause of the boycott might be clearer if the sales plummet the day the new policy and prices take effect. Iā€™m inclined to raid twenty times a day until April 6, and then stop all raids, whether I have coins left after that or not.

I was planning to go all in on the 2km eggs for Spring into Spring because I still need most of the shiny babies. Sure thing Iā€™m not buying any more incubators, just using the leftovers.

I refuse to pay any money for Remote Raids, and in fact always have, too.

Also not buying GO Fest Tickets. After the trash that was Hoenn Tour I refuse to give them any more money even if they improve.

Hell this game gets my boycot for once and for all.

In all candor, waiting 'til April 6 will make my statement of protest a little clearer. Iā€™m not against their announcement, but against the policy change that they will put into effect that day. I currently have 2 M xp left to reach Level 50. Iā€™m hoping that I can make my point clear by having something like 10 xp left to go by April 6, stopping right before I finish and saying, ā€œNah. Iā€™ve had it.ā€

The whole remote raiding thing doesnā€™t really bother me, either, I already didnā€™t remote raid, amount of in-person raids will go down for me though, but itā€™s the way they behave that doesnā€™t sit well with me. Theyā€™ve done anything but improve the game (except for January 2023) in the past 2 years, refuse to listen to their community, create horrible events, it looks like theyā€™re purposely destroying the game, but not in a user-friendly way.

Good idea, @vorgriff3 . I think my actuation will not bother nobody, but well, I will shut down this part of the game as well.

I asked about that on Reddit, but they said the best strategy is to not spend more on Remote Raids so they donā€™t see the sharp increase in expenditure, and also do not raid anymore that you do locally. Once April 6th starts, if everyone does that, it will not show a sharp increase followed by a major decrease. All it will show is a major decrease, essentially showing that the move was financially poor in both short and long term.

(had just asked about April info, not having seen anything during the last month other than the remote raid change, Togetic CD, and Elite Raid crud. Just found the hub actually has an April infographic, so ā€¦ never mind

One of the recent updates changed Grunt encounters making the scene jerk a little out, in, then out again, each time a new opponent Pokemon comes in to the battle. Itā€™s not a huge change; but Iā€™m definitely not a huge fan of it.

@vorgriff3 and everyone elseā€¦

In these days of dwindling content, Iā€™m very pleased to keep reading your queries, interesting interjections and grumblings - they seem to be the only thing keeping the forum ticking over. :grinning::+1:

In the absence of any new shinies, or hundos, or anything else worth mentioning, I find it hard to keep motivated to play much - and even contribute much here. A self-reinforcing death spiral leading to complete entropy.

I place the blame firmly at the feet of Niantic - who seem to be determined to kill the game off altogether - either deliberately, through negligence, or sheer incompetence. Anyway it all amounts to the same thingā€¦

ā€¦the end of an era seems to be rapidly approaching, but any small diversions and distractions help to ease the ennui, so thanks

A quiet similar to that encountered after a progression of disappointments in the relationship front, where one is wondering whether the girlfriend is trying to end things, but arenā€™t sure whether (or how) to ask.

Is Niantic trying to get us mad enough to dump them, maybe to avoid the grief of being accused of dumping us? Letā€™s not sustain a charade if they just want to leave this game behind and move onā€¦
