Just won my first battle ! beat a dragonite ( 550CP ) at this gym round the corner from me, but still cannot leave my pokemon there ?
You first need to knock out all of them.
Oh no looks like I have a lot of powering and evolving to do then, i get 0wned in most my battles 
That’s great, your getting raid experience, which improves your experience. If you can go after the pink raids until you get to level 10 you can build from there.

w00t, i just visited the 3 gyms near me and won all of them with my rhyhorn fearow and furret.
Not ready for raids yet
If you catch lots of rhyhorns and evolve the best one, you’re a step further😉

That happens always, sadly.
The raid is 45 minutes, so after you complete it you need to wait for the raid to finish and them you can place your pokemon there.

I have 3 pokemon defending 3 different gyms, when i go into my pokemon the Octillery CP says 728CP, but when i click on the pokemon for more info it says 610CP ?
Will it return back to 728cp when the pokemon has come back to me and ive revived it ?
Short answer: Yes.
One note: The CP will even be the same before you revived it. But not if it is in a gym.
