Yeah. Non-attendees usually wind up getting the same event goodies as attendees, but at later events. Paying gets the advantage of being EARLY, but not of being EXCLUSIVE.
One perk of event attendance that comes close to being exclusive seems to be the greater presence of shinies. Only Community Days seem to have that character on a global basis, and those are usually for one species of Pokémon at a time, while the shiny rates at events have a reputation for being rather elevated.
What are they doing lately? Many people have expressed their disliking for this event, and they create another event that’s exactly as bad, then they randomly decided Gyarados Raid Day starts at 11:00 instead of 14:00 and now they publish an infographic in which they forgot to list half of the shinies. How can they be THIS chaotic?
Maybe they ‘forgot’ to list them because they hadn’t intended for them to be shiny possibilities. Has anybody seen a shiny rhyhorn or togetic in this event? I haven’t, yet.
They did mention they could be shiny in their blog, though. Also according to shinyrates.com Rhyhorn’s shiny form is definitely out there so Togetic’s is without a doubt as well.
I would find those helpful, @Jormdeworm . I generally don’t get a chance to visit the places that already post those. And the discord group I used to be in had an infographics folder where they were collected.
Whisky Tango Foxtrot could possibly be “inappropriate” about “Kartana(” ?
I got tired of running PokeGenie every time I wanted to see the level of a mon that I’m maxing out, so I put the level in parentheses after the name (to distinguish it from my usual naming scheme of having the IV after the name). Most of the places it never complains.
I just leveled up my perfect Kartana and tried to update the name. I tried “Kartana(48)” but was rejected for having “inappropriate text”. I found that no matter what I put after the open parenthesis I got the error, even if I put nothing after it).
The worst thing is when a failure occurs without giving ANY error. The next worst is this – giving an error code but not saying what about it was bad. Was it politically incendiary? Was it vulgar? Religiously offensive? Some kind of symbolic swear word?
Mystery failures are a big part of why I have so much F.U.N. in the game.
(Went into fault-isolation mode…) Tried various permutations in the name.
KARTANA – worked
KARTANA48 – worked
KARTANA47.5 – inappropriate text
KARTANA47. – inappropriate text
KARTANA. – worked
KARTANA4. – worked
KARTANA7. – worked
KARTANA( – inappropriate text
KARTANA(4 – inappropriate text
KARTANA(a – inappropriate text
KARTANA47 – inappropriate text (I wondered if it might be getting too close to AK47 and triggering fear of guns, but I found that the name of the gun “(AK47)” actually worked fine… I’m back to being absolutely mind-boggled over this. There seems to be no recognizable pattern, which makes me think it’s just arbitrary – or harebrained stupidity.
It’s odd what they allow though…
there’s a guy who lives near me who always gives his buddies offensive names - for instance his current buddy is a Beldum where he’s changed the d to a c
On second thought, human susceptibility to the impulse to act out in a juvenile manner necessitates the unintelligent profanity filters. Your neighbor’s Beldum being one example. Lord, have mercy.
