For some reason I am just not getting the animations for eggs hatching anymore.

I don’t think so. Last shiny I caught was 8 days ago. By the way, I have some shinies from Greece that I haven’t posted so expect that soon.
Alolan Exeggutor and Aerodactyl are permaboosted, the other two are just full odds. So nothing special is going on in that regard. You just got lucky it seems 
As I promised, the next shiny I caught in Greece after CD was Nincada, a new shiny that I didn’t have! 
I caught Kabuto and Gulpin on the same day (Monday) and I am super happy about it. I only have 10 shinies or so in total now, I hardly ever see any and to get 2 on the same walk was something special.
I was hoping to get a shiny during the last week, I saw so many Drilburs/Kabuto/Bunnelby/Aerodactyl (I was really hoping for this one, but at least got a strong few…), but I finally managed to get a Kabuto and on closing hours!
It’s not strong, but it looks neat
And here is the Gulpin that I tried to catch pretty much because I was growing tired of not catching anything interesting only for it to be a shiny!!!
I’ve only seen 14 of them ever, so it was super great.
(I was hoping to catch a Lileep today, but no luck, despite seeing what felt like an infestation of them…)

I’m seeing tons of Marill and yet none of them strong (below medium, in fact), let alone a shiny! 
And I’m sure I can’t miss it with that bright green, it looks very nice!
Well, I had a very happy morning after catching a shiny Eevee, I’ve been wanting one for ages!
I decided to go for a quick walk just to get some pokeballs in preparation for Mankey hour because I’m running very low (I really want to catch a strong one so I can evolve it to full potential, I’ve got plenty of berries, I just need a really good one, that’s the main focus! fingers crossed for a shiny of course) and I went to an area that has 2 pokestops and a gym, I don’t usually walk there but decided to drop off a pokemon and guess what…
2 Eevees appear at the same time and one of them was a lovely shiny! I’m super happy about it as, like I’ve said, I usually don’t go there and my focus was on getting pokeballs, nothing else.
Even though shinies are really rare (I’ve got 11 total now) I do enjoy the smile this randomness gives me.
