I would not advice checking the Journal often, you’ll find a lot of shinies it failed 
No, that is awful! I can’t resist not looking and if I see a special shiny there… oh no (by special means one of my “priorities”). I wonder who the first “victim” will be. (not pikachu/squirtle please 
- that’s the one from the classic trio I’m missing. Meowth would sting, too, as I see plenty of them but never a shiny). Still, a great gadget!

Happy belated left handers day fellow lefties!!! 
My fiancée is disabled and her hands hurt her after a while of playing so I figured the auto catcher would be good for her. I wanted her to have the legit official Pokemon auto catcher and I just got a bonus at work so I coughed up all the $ for it (and too many Pokemon Lego sets) and then the day after it arrived the explorer gadget appeared on our phones I’m still glad she’ll have unlimited use of the auto catcher though.
Personally, I will never use an auto catcher or the explorer gadget (until I am forced to do so for any research). I see it as evening the playing field for my fiancée but my brain considers it cheating if you’re not disabled

I don’t think it’s cheating if it is an option within the game itself (and this applies to all games). You may choose not to do it, whatever suits your playstyle, but in no way is it cheating. I think you’re good there! 
There are many different and valid ways to play this game after all. And wow that is indeed the perfect timing for this gadget to appear. But, hey, the more the options, the better!
I think it’s also very nice not to have you phone in your hand when you are in city areas you don’t know that well, or are in a bit of a deserted/unfriendly place, but still want the gifts from the pokestops that have interesting locations…), less risk of things going sour… 
I have kept my AR stuff disabled from the first moment of configuring my acct. It isn’t functional in areas without flat expanses. And it wastes battery for the extra graphics. The current “take a snapshot of zera” task ignores that. How can I achieve that task without being able to use AR, and without being able to turn it off in settings (settings has it off, but it doesn’t turn it off)? Any ideas??
The way AR has been shoved into our faces and then down our throats has been one of the most obnoxious ‘features’ of this game.

I’m surprised the video makes no mention of Spiritomb, Kecleon, the Valentine’s Spinda or Toedscool. I’d argue all of them are rarer than Shedinja and Larvesta.
