This seems curious… I just finished the first stage of the Winter Dreaming research, which is in our Timed Research tab, and the reward screen said Special Research Complete … Were we supposed to be able to take our time finishing it, but then they had a change of heart? Not a major thing; but it does make me curious about the reasons for the change.
The Euro Map has been down for now the 5th day which has been a little sad for chasing 100% Pokémon.
On the plus side of that I only learnt yesterday why it’s been down? Google has made some changes which affects the way the bots work running around the map as it’s all tied in with location verification. From second hand chat this apparently affects a majority of mapping/bot/systems not all apparently.
With a bit of luck some pesky GPS cheats that dominate some areas I’ve tried to make Gym Badge progress on have been affected by this also. Will try to hit some of these Gyms over the weekend and see what happens.
I know someone on our local Discord that without fail got booted by a known GPS Cheat between 23:30 and 00:00 every time they occupied certain Gyms in an area that for the first time has had an overnight stay.
If this is correct I need to cash in on Badge progress before the tech smart programmers find a fix/solution as they ultimately will at some point. Then its win again being able chase 100% once again.
This seems a little wyrd to me: The hub page for Wyrdeer says it originated in the Galar region. But capturing my first one awarded me a medal for catching something from Hisui region. Maybe “Hisui” is how “Galar” is spelled in the last fortnight of the year? Or maybe research subsequent to the publication of the hub’s page has determined that it came from Hisui, not Galar…
Never mind that its unevolved form (Stantler) hails from Johto. Apparently this is one wyrd deer with diverse origins…

Looks to me like the whole Winter Event Part 2 is contrived as a vehicle for selling 2 choices of timed research. Paid, but time-restricted, both. Oh, with a ribbon and a hat on a couple of Pokémon to dress it up, both figuratively and literally.
Does that get a woo hoo? Or a yee hah? Or maybe a ho hum…
The monthly fee for playing is coming, it’s practically palpable by now.

I mentioned it in the other thread about latest Pokedex.registers, but I really think it’s necessary to discuss.
There’s the route-feature, an abusive feature. Apart of getting the Zygarde cells, it gives nothing I couldn’t get walking around. Well, but you need 250 cells to evolve the Zygarde in his 100% Form, limiting the maximum in 3 cells by day, so you need at least 84 days to get them.
And now? I have evolved the Zygarde… nothing more to do? The best I can do is forgetting that the routes exist? I saw that I can change the Form again wasting 10 Zygarde candies and 2000 Dust. What I don’t know (and I will not try out) is if I need again cells to go back to the 100% Form. 
But in any case, will there be more Zygarde catches in the future, or once I have fulfilled the evolutions I have to forget all I have learned about the routes?

They are seriously taking the p155 when it comes to the paid nonsense. They are not giving out anything of value to the game to make anyone who chooses not to partake in the FoMo from reconsidering.

As for Routes, I haven’t walked a Route since I rolled my ankle in over 2 months ago now.
I enjoyed aiming for the 100 Routes completed on my favourite one near home but just can’t be bothered resuming as the 250 Cells was never going to used on a PoS IV as that’s not how I like to play the game. I should collect them still in case there is a way introduced to improve IV or they release a way to try and get better IV Zygarde(s). Arm I just can’t be bothered as I’m back to doing what I like most about the game, Gym Badge progression to Gold.
The Mapping guys have stated they are getting close to having it all up and running again with testing going well so far. Once that’s back my Gym progression will take a hit again.

It does seem like its headed in a monthly fee subscription direction.
No doubt greed will have that at too high a price point. If its low the game might have a chance of surviving but I think their blind head in the sand attitude towards their customers they are going to kill the game. The drop off of non subscribers with multiple accts will be massive.
If it gets to pay per month to play I know I will be dropping the game like a hot potato. I enjoy playing now but if I have to pay or cant play with multiple accts I wont be playing at all. I’ll find something else to do with the hours a week it’s currently taking up. My life might be better for it, you never know.
If I expect to travel to a place that has a regional Pokémon, where would I find whether that regional will actually be one of the spawns, hatches, or raid bosses in that region for that time? In California, we see when Taurus has some time in the game; but I don’t recall ever seeing any mention of Klefki, Comfey, or Sigilyph (regionals for France, Hawaii, and Egypt, respectively) in event descriptions.
When I was in Florida recently - regionals (heracross, carnivine, corsola), migrating species and continental regionals (durant, illumise, throh, lunatone, etc.) and regional variants (oricorio, flabebe, etc.) were all fairly common OUTSIDE of Events and incredibly scarce DURING Events.
I think this is supposed to be true the whole world over

Saw the Dream event announcement. Couldn’t help noticing the obligatory paid TIMED research, and that it’s twice the cost this time. Which makes it about twice as obnoxious.
Got a strong feeling that the future will be a free basic game, with all special events being paid ticket things. Though I’m not sure that will work any better for Niantic to cover the escalated charges that Goofle is shifting onto them.
They’ve done so much damage to the concept of paid events with the rewards bing so pathic in most instances it’s only the FoMo that makes players buy.
