It’s not worth it right now, and I’m not going to rebuild 3 sets of Galar starters let alone 3 Dreepies (regular, Dyna, and Giganta). If the rewards justified the 3* difficulty, and this was farmable like normal raids I’d invest my time into this. The energy caps and monetization on this are absurd.
It used to be pretty easy to find raids by looking around the horizon for the timers on top of gyms. The dynamuck stuff has cluttered the skyline to a point where it’s really rare to be able to just look and click. We have to use the nearby raids to select, since most raids are at least partly obscured by some other gym / stop / station.
[Added: The raids come and go, and they’ve been part of the skyline for years with almost no problems. What has caused the current mess is the recent addition of tons of power stations, which stay in place for many hours at a time, blocking the view far more and far longer.]
Just as I thought: Doing any kind of Gigantamax fight is going to be a nightmare because the minimum is 10 with 40 people at max. Are you serious?! Good luck getting anyone in a rural area. You can’t even get people to do Shadow Raids. The 800 point requirement is pretty scummy because unless you buy a lot of those photon energy bundles, you’re screwed as a f2p.
And I was right that you’re going to have to rebuild 2-3 Galar starters, and most people ain’t got the time and resources. Most people aren’t building 2-3+ Galar starters/Pokémon for a side game that gives you crappy rewards.
I’ll pass.
Even during GO Fest I don’t see 40 people playing here. And I live in a city.
Maybe they have a gap in their explanations.
Last time I have gone for a Dynamax the place told me that 17 other Pokémon will participate in the fight. I say this because there were no other fighters present.
Maybe there can be much more Pokémon placed in a station, and when you fight all these Pokémon help you?
I don’t and will not leave anything in a Station as it’s one less Gym I can occupy.
I’ve done 1 DMax battle since Beldum left and that was only due to bordum waiting for an appointment.
I’ll be giving the whole GiantMax a miss.
Oh I hadn’t realized that that adds to your gym counter…come ON, Niantic! What are you thinking?
I happened to be in Sydney CBD while this GiantSteaming raid thing was on. While I had no intention of participating while I had lunch I looked at all the points to see how many were attempting. Not once over 45min did I see the numbers required to get one of these raids done. The numbers of people out and about in this capital city far exceeds the numbers in my own state capital. Surprised but not really surprised as the whole DMax thing has been a game fail imho. Worst game addition since friends fail.
Today I made one Gigantas…t, there were 40 players inside.
Three contra-attacks and my three Pokemon were dead. I stayed to see what will happen (they let you do applause to help the other players, hahaha).
Step by step more players were pushed out, at the end all 40 were out and the Giganta had still 50% of his life-energy.
I think that’s enough to see that the probability is very low that I will take part in another fight.
I have heard stories of groups of 30+ people failing to beat the new Gigantamax Pokémon. I am not even going to try it.
The consumption of resources required to Power Up and Max Level Up 3 decent Pokémon are well beyond a vast majority of players.
The playing habits of Raiding being able skate through Raids without putting in time and effort building great usable Pokémon sees them thinking Giant DMax battles will be the same. Let’s not even go there with the heavy slant of IV Raid drops and wasted Trades.
Nianishit have set this up to fail massively.
I don’t do social media platforms to bother seeing what backlash Nianshit cop over this feature now. From what I’ve seen so far from local Discord and written above it appears the target audience for Giant DMax is it’s for those that take the Battle game seriously not the vast majority of players who are casual collectors.
I didn’t even try this, and nobody in my area bothered either. Apparently they might have been secretly nerfed to make them easier, but thats not enough to get people to do this. For a 6* the rewards have to be crazy good, and they really aren’t anything awesome.
This season is a disaster.
I completely agree, which is a bummer, because it seemed to have pretty solid potential, and Halloween is usually pretty great in PoGO.
Also, why can’t we do raids past 9 pm? This seems like another needless, annoying “feature”…
My theory on that, @Liono1001 : Every new feature or modification in the game seems to serve the overarching goal (of Niantic CEO) for social gatherings, healthy walking, and becoming more familiar with places and landmarks. If the game gathered players after dark it might set them up for unhealthy encounters (urban with crime and rural with critters). I want to do remote after dark; but they want to DISCOURAGE everything remote.
Correct, this is the goal. However, I have noticed the effects tend to be the exact opposite they planned. There is no reason to explore new areas because all you will find is the same stuff. Every time I travel to an area that has different regionals I can hardly find them due to the Kanto spawns and especially the numerous amount of events we keep getting. Making Raids local only, increasing the remote raid pass price and especially making bigger groups necessary caused a lot of trainers to stop playing. And why would they not, Niantic essentially took half the game away with these changes. I myself used to invite others to help with local raids, but now our usual group is too small to raid and Poke Genie is just no longer worth it, so we haven’t been able to meet up for raids in a while. I am not even attempting the new Gigantamax Pokémon.
If Niantic really wanted to achieve their goal they had in mind for the Dynamax and Gigantamax battles they should
1). Make them remote raidable. We could probably gather about 20 trainers, but that is apparently not enough to take on Gigantamax battles. If we could just send invites to the remaining trainers, chances are we’d meet up much more often.
2). Lower the prices of remote raids. Again, these changes did the exact opposite of stimulating socialization. If smaller groups could take on strong Gigantamax Pokémon with a reliable help of invitees, they’d actually start meeting up for these battles.
3). Heavily improve the rewards. I am assuming they will eventually bring exclusive Pokémon to this feature but for now all of Dyamax and Gigantamax seems pointless, just takes up more and more inventory slots, is a money grab and an utterly confusing mechanic. If only they made it so they gave a lot more XP and Stardust, or Special Items like Showcases, the appeal for them would already be so much higher. And that compared with people buying more remote raids, would not only have Niantic achieve their goal, but not lose in profit either.
And there are plenty more solutions, however Niantic is missing all of them and doing the exact opposite of what they need to do.
Nianshit’s whole business model is based on FoMo in the disguise of projecting they are promoting in person social interaction and healthy life style of getting out and exploring.
They are forced to project that under agreement of that’s what the whole Pokémon story is about.
FoMo requires very little thought and effort to the design and playability of the game.
