I had only seen them as buddy Pokémon of friends, until the recent Go Fest (where I managed to score 3 of them, much to my delight).

Correct. Several Shiny Deino had been shared after GO Fest, but we could not change that sentence anymore. And I totally forgot about it, too.

It doesn’t look like it. Haven’t compared the statistics though. It was worth a try at least.
