Update: I have been using Alolan muk, Tropius, and electrivire in the great league. I have also used pokemon like vaporeon, giratina, gliscor, and kingdra in my mix of ultra league battles

What’s surprised me has been how effective my Flygon has been in the Ultra League.

A lot depends on what the opposing trainer put in the lineup. Sometimes the match-ups turn out more favorable than others.

My son got mad at me when we did rematch that I didn’t use same monsters, but I told him, I’m trying to still learn what the others can do.

Pokemon with double typing are better than single type as they can learn a more carie set of moves (usually)
