Overnight my wife has lost over 200 red balls, Ahe seems to be down close to 500 items in a week. The disappearing act is happening with the game shut down and she’s not gaining any monsters. Any ideas?

I normally trash all my red balls because I need the bag space

Hacked account? Though just doing that to throw away someones red balls seems a bit simple.

That would be horrible.

If you log in using Google you should look in to the login details and see if there are strange logins.
If so change you password and turn on the login notification.
Also contact Niantic about it and the loss of items.
