I haven’t used daily incense in a long time so I decided to give it a try today to see if the spawns are better since Niantic added shiny Galarian birds in the mix. This is what I got:
I got very lucky today, Zapdos appeared, nearing the final minutes too, and I caught it!!! It’s not shiny, just the normal version but I was super glad!
Since the galarian event started I’ve been saving up great/ultra balls in case I find a shiny bird. I do not want the horror of finding one and not catching it because I ran out of pokeballs!
So during the daily incense I usually catch 3 or 5 pokemons at most, because I’m saving the pokeballs (I usually just use regular ones and my inventory space isn’t great…). I always check for shinies and of course if it’s a specific pokemon I need/can’t resist I’ll catch it, but other than that I do not even attempt the catch.
I read conflicted opinions online saying the more pokemon you caught the better, as that way different ones would spawn, instead of just ignoring them because that would take longer for new ones to appear.
With that in mind, today my strategy was different. I caught more pokemon with the daily incense symbol, so maybe that way new pokemon would spawn, hopefully a legendary bird… And it worked!
What’s your experience on this? Do you think it actually helps if you catch more pokemon, not just the ones you really want, to boost others appearing (potentially birds) or is it all the same?
I’m in the amount of Pokémon caught when using a Daily Nonsense has no bearing on the getting a Bird to appear.
It’s just pure RNG.
daily nonsense, I liked that!
I do wish they had increased the spawn rate of the birds during the event or, at least, increased the duration of the daily incence (without using extras), I think that would have been an interesting bonus.
Interestingly enough I caught it on the same road I caught articuno… I’m going to call it my lucky street!
There’s a rumor that Galarian birds only appear in certain places and at certain time. I only encountered 1 of them and it was on the path where I don’t usually use daily incense. Maybe it’s time I go there again and give it another try. I played today in a different spot in the wood near the lake, but I didn’t find anything spectacular again.
I’ll keep that in mind, too. I caught Zapdos today, around noon, very sunny day and Articuno it was almost 7pm, cloudy/rainy weather, but the street was the same, metres apart really. It was during machop’s spotlight hour, so I was catching a lot of them…
It’s hard to assess anything when the spawn rate is so low. But I do like repeating stuff where/when I’ve been lucky before, so there’s that!
I still believe at some point these G Birds will be in Raids. I’ll get them then and sit back a smile when Discord goes off with salty players going I used my fn Master Ball on these PoS and now they are in fn Raids.
If they don’t I’m fine to never get one as the IV’, catch rate and whole daily nonsense mechanic is not worth my time and effort.
Personally I like the daily incense as it’s something I tend to use almost daily and I like the fact something special can spawn, even if it’s very rare. And, since I usually am short on pokeballs and some days it’s close to nothing, I like getting 30 pokeballs for it, too. It hasn’t been the case lately as I’d been saving up during the event so I could have a good chance if I saw a shiny, but still!
What I would like is a chance at the normal versions of the legendary birds, really, not just the galarian versions. Daily incense is something I do normally in my style of playing, if I had to go out of my way just to catch a specific pokemon that would be more stressful and I probably wouldn’t bother.
Well, if I hadn’t messed up the throw I wouldn’t feel so bad. I’d still feel bad since it’s my favourite, but… next time at the very least I’ll be calmer for a better shot! (it’s so high, I’m going to practise on a fearow lol)
This wasn’t on my lucky street, but on my way to it. I thought it would be a good thing to take advantage of a straight road going to my usual place and as soon as I started the incense, it popped up! I must have taken 5 or 6 steps, I don’t know!
So, in a way, I was disappointed from the start.
(still, the game was kind to reward me later with 2 shinies! - and of course the possibility of catching 2 birds on consecutive days…)
*that’s not an error, I actually caught 3 chikoritas in a row.
