Is this correct or did the Internet lie to me?!
Yes, so it is.
Yeah, trades reroll IVs.
So the only “real” purpose for trading is for shiny, event, and missing mons (not stats)?
It also works the other way around. A worthless IV Pokémon could technically become a Hundo. You can also get Lucky Pokémon, which by default have a pretty good IV. So yeah, it isn’t really worth trading your good Pokémon, but it is worth trading bad IV Pokémon.
Thanks for the reply! My friends and I have been doing it wrong!
Yes, Trading re-rolls the IV
There’s only 4 reasons for Trading.
- For the chance to get a better IV Pokémon than the one(s) you have.
- To get something you don’t have but that comes at a much greater dust cost.
- To gain more normal Candy or XL Candy if the distance between Pokémon caught is >100km.
- To get one go Lucky as some players are trying to fill a Lucky Pokédex. Shout out to @celery
Crap! I wish I knew this earlier! Thanks for the information!
You can get shiny Pokemon and there’s a higher chance for lucky Pokemon if you’re best buddies.
There is a mechanic that people abuse where they collect low iv Pokemon trade those like 10 times and then trade the same 3 star Pokemon and they get hundos that are also lucky.
I’ve watched buddies do it on raid day and community day.
Can you pease clarify what you mean by people Trading low IV Pokémon 10 times and you can get Shiny’s @jgcole83 ?
I am assuming they just meant it is possible to trade shiny Pokémon. As for the ‘trade 10 times’ part, no idea, because a single Pokémon can only be traded once.
What’s the IV floor for trading results? Can trading give a nundo??
For example on community day you catch a bunch of beldums.
You trade a bunch of bad ones and then it’s like after x amount you start trading the 3 star ones.
It’s not the same exact one but the same Pokemon
Thanks for the clarification.
For a new player they could have read it as you can Trade a Traded Pokémon on to someone else. Well that’s the way it read to me.
