How was your special field research day?

Wait, what, there was a research day yesterday?
I didn’t know . Yes I rarely read the pop ups as they always appear when I’m time poor so it’s a skip get out of my way annoyance.
Not that knowing would have changed anything as I was working all day anyway.
That’s interesting reading with how you describe the time constraints of the event making it not so enjoyable @Stridian .

I managed to play for longer in the previous research day, yesterday my time was on the shorter side so I was extra rushing through it, which added to the stress definitely. I still want to give it another go but I’ll set up some “constraints” so I get to enjoy it more! (especially if it’s for a pokemon I like particularly, who knows…)

Fuzzy buddy research day was great. I could only play for an hour and a half, but I still got 4 shinies! Of all the shinies, I needed 1 Pancham to complete the shiny family and I didn’t have any shiny Cubchoo so I needed 2. I spun as many Poke stops as I could and I bought the timed research. I chose Cubchoo of course. I managed to complete all the tasks before the event ended, but I didn’t find any shiny Cubchoo. But then I received another 10 tasks to choose and I chose Cubchoo again. I thought that these tasks would disappear when the event ended but they didn’t! So I did 10 more tasks and finally got not 1 but 2 shiny Cubchoo (second one was on the last task)! :star_struck: :four_leaf_clover: I also got 1 shiny Pancham that I was looking for and Teddiursa. And it was incredible that each shiny had good IVs! Now that’s what I call a research day!

I didn’t participate in this one.
Tbh I don’t even know what day this was on. Priorities must have been different for me that day.

This one was a complete failure for me. I usually don’t play in an area with a lot of pokestops, but I went out for a longer walk and managed around 11 or so (I include gyms in this number) and didn’t see any shiny at all.

I love both pokemon for today’s research, so I was looking forward to maybe get 1 shiny register for any of them. I especially like Amaura’s shiny so I was rooting for that one… but no luck for me. :upside_down_face:

My complaint: One of the research task was just stardust (500!!) and, while I did get a few pokemon (more Amaura than Tyrunt - I think I only got 1 one), way too many of the research tasks were to scan something. It became so frustrating, as it greatly diminished my chances of getting a shiny considering the lower number of pokestops already. I wish they’d eliminate this type of research during research days altogether.

For research days, given that completing tasks is the main goal, I really hope they bring back the feature of the same pokestop giving more than one research task (if you spin it again), to increase our odds (not just shiny odds ultimately, but of getting pokemon as a reward as a start). Maybe limit a number of 3 research tasks for each pokestop or something, if you must… I think either way it would be a major improvement and make the game more enjoyable during events like this.

(the more interesting part of today, though, was accidently participating in a raid with other people  I play solo and really don’t participate in raids that much, especially not 3 tier unless I have specific pokemon ready and prepare in advance, but I was in the area and slightly upset with such bad luck, so I saw a raid and joined. I didn’t even prepare the pokemon, just went with the suggestions, when I noticed another person in the “waiting room”. I didn’t see anyone nearby, really, but it was surprisingly fun! I would never manage that raid alone, but having someone else share the battle there it was kind of neat.

I didn’t much care for the pokemon itself, like I said I was just in the area, but It was a positive experience nonetheless. I was also stupidly nervous about losing the fight, as I didn’t prepare my team, just went with the suggestions, which weren’t that…great? I definitely had better pokemon, I think!)

Sadly won’t help anymore, but is worth mentioning for future occasions: scan tasks do not take up a slot in your research tab, so you can just keep one and then you will never be bothered by Scan tasks again. I’ve been keeping mine for years, don’t even know what stop it is for anymore.

The worst part is that they have done this before, but just refuse to do it again. I doubt it takes more than an hour to fix, and as soon as they have the code for one Research Day it should be an easy copy paste as well. At least that would be logical.

Oh, wow, I had no idea, thanks! I’ll keep 1 permanently from now on, so I never have to deal with that annoyance again.

I tried keeping one until I got a second task, just to make sure I got a different one next time, but then I deleted it due to space (I have a hatching one stuck there, unfortunately). And I got so many scanning ones, it’s incredible! I’ve been thinking and it must have been more than half the stops (11 pokestops/gyms total), as I only managed to complete the 1st tier in that Special Research task (complete 5 field research tasks) and got halfway or something in the next one (10 field research).

I like the concept of completing different missions in order to get pokemon in a special event. I just don’t like the way they organize the research tasks in pokestops. It hinders the event.

Anyway, thanks for the tip! Hopefully the next event will be better.

Was there another special research day on the weekend? Have I missed another one?
Oh well.
