Inkay Research Day was great! First, I mega evolved Houndoom to get more candies from dark-type Pokemon. I also used it in a Deoxys Speed Forme raid. I used 2 Pancham as my buddies so I could evolve them into Pangoro. I was very lucky to find 2 shiny Inkay back to back from 2nd and 3rd research tasks! I found 5 shinies in the end. Two of them had great IVs! I found 9 regular Inkay with great IVs. I did 36 research tasks, but 2 were regular ones that didnāt give Inkay, so I got 34 Inkay. After the event was over, I did a Galarian Weezing raid and my alt account got a hundo! Two more great things happened during this event: I got Cosmog with good IVs and a shiny shadow Bulbasaur!
Me - 65 inkay - 7 shiny - 0 hundos (+ sableye hundo)
Cat - 51 inkay - 5 shiny - 0 hundos (+ chikorita shiny)
Mrs - 56 inkay - 5 shiny - 0 hundos (+ sableye hundo)
Me 0 of 0 of 0
5 inkay, 1 shiny (the first research reward encounter), 0 hundos of any kind. Was able to play only a half hour and able to reach a total of 4 PokƩstops, though.
Didnāt partake in it.
I just couldnāt be bothered chasing quests all day when there were more stops that had normal quests v Inky quests and those that did involved buddy rubbish.
Decided real quick it wasnāt worth the effort.
Got nine shines and one hundo non-shiny. Once I got the hundo, I decided to call it a day. XD
0/0. had no time at all to play. I did have a good day though
I think I got 9. Donāt know how many Researches Iāve done. Will look it up tomorrow.
Edit: Turns out it was 81.
I was in Belgrade, but I had limited time to play. I played on and around the Republic Square. I spun about a dozen Poke stops. The first research task gave me my first ever shiny Luvdisc! Soon after that I got another shiny which was almost a shundo. It had 14/14/14 IVs. And as a cherry on top I got a shiny Lickitung! Playing in a big city really pays off! I also got several good-IV regular Luvdisc. I still have 1 unfinished research task so maybe I get one more shiny.
I was stuck in my office, where I could reach only one PokƩstop. And the one field research task it gave me had a Luvdisc encounter as the reward. It was a low quality non-shiny.
Summary of day: Encountered: 3, Caught: 3, Shiny: 0. Surprise: none.
This one really sucked. I was plagued by instant flees and half-shake breakouts. I did over 150 and not one hundo, and honestly, I feel like the whole day was set against me because of how the game behaved the entire time.
Did play, didnāt miss anything.
Did play, didnāt get rewarded, horrible shiny rates again and the most random duplicate wild shinies whereas the entire event was spammed with ones I needed.
Oddish Research day was great. I found 5 shinies out of 30 field research tasks. Some Poke stops didnāt give tasks with an Oddish encounter, which was strange. I finally have the entire shiny Oddish family! I also won 2 showcases!
Couldnāt even tell there was an event on. 95% of the stops I spun were not Oddish research quests, wtf?
To top it off I was playing out in the country. Standing right on top of a Show Case stop that would not let me enter. Move closer error preventing participation. What a show the whole (non) event was.
I didnāt got any Oddish tasks, but luckily I managed to win a showcase because of Shadow Oddish which I got yesterday via Grunt, and also because no one places their Pokemon in that Pokestop
I believe this was mostly because of the fact Oddish Day was not something which Niantic decided, rather it was The Pokemon Company who decided to give some honorary mention to Oddish. Therefore Niantic just added this to their game to show how much they are on the lines of MSG !!
Most important thing which Niantic forgot to mention was this :
This is official Website for Oddish made by The Pokemon Company.
I canāt remember how many research tasks I managed to do, as Iāve already transfered a few pokemon, but it must have been between 17-20. Next time (if the storage allows), Iāll keep them for reference.
This was my 1st research day and I must say I found it a lot more stressful than community day! Having to complete as many research tasks as possible within a time limit can be quite stressful, especially when you can only get a task per pokestop and sometimes it gave me nothing, so I had to keep a mental note to go back to that one. I decided to start in my usual area with 3 pokestops, but I got 0 tasks from them. So I just drove to another with more and played there for the majority of the time, until I depleted the pokestops in the area. I managed to complete 1 task for a gift earlier on, but I got 3 or so other ones that I just couldnāt do because all my other friends still have an unopened gift from meā¦ It was annoying when I deleted them and still got more of those, even when I started keeping 1, so maybe I wouldnāt get the same.
I encountered mostly Passimian, by far, and managed 2 shinies and theyāre all pretty good too. I got 1st place in a showcase with a Passimian, so that was a great success! I really like the shiny version, which is a plus.
This was the best I got:
I kept trying to get a shiny Oranguru until the end, but I was just encountering Passimian, so, nothing there for me. However, I got a perfect one, which Iām very happy about.
I really liked my findings today, so it was absolutely worth it for that. Next time, Iāll plan things a bit better, so it can go a bit more smoothly overall.
I ended up getting the time to play but 5mins before 2 oāclock I got a phone call and had to abandon playing.
Picked 3 stops up on the GoPlus.
Completed them this morning and one was a Grape Ape.
This was my total encountered today (minus the last 2 that I already had):
What Iām happy about:
ā I caught 2 shinies in the event, a normal yamask and a galarian yamask. I really like the galarian shiny, so Iāll keep it like that, but the first one Iāll probably evolve as the evolution is a cool sarcophagus and I like the shiny. I found a lot more galarian yamasks than normal ones, too.
ā Iāve got 3 yamasks that are somewhat on the bigger side and hopefully Iāll get a 1st place on a showcase. Iāve got 2 sitting at 1st place right now, but that will probably change by tomorrow. Weāll see!
The bad side:
ā I find it absolutely frustrating to spin pokestops on research day and get no special research at all. Why isnāt it a given thing? I had to spin 3 times the same one just to get a task, in other cases it was just 2, but still, it just annoys me, because I donāt see a logical point to it and I want to be moving, not waiting nearby so I can spin again.
ā This one adds to the annoyance of pokestops: not getting a task because my bag is full! So I just battled 2 gyms so I could spend potions after, fed berries to the pokemon, got rid of pokeballsā¦ Itās just very weird, because the task doesnāt occupy space in the inventory, the game could give me that + Iāll probably be spending items anyway in order to complete the taskā¦
These 2 points were definitely made worse by poor weather, I admit thatā¦
I donāt want this to turn into a rant, so Iāll stop here!
But one thing Iāve definitely become aware of is that maybe I donāt really like research daysā¦ This is only my second one and I had noticed in the passimian day that I found it stressful, but today it made me really anxious, too.
It was raining during part of it, so that didnāt help, but just the stress/obligation to spin as many stops as I possibly can (with all the bad parts of that that I mentioned beforeā¦), having to do everything in a rushā¦ I donāt know, I think I lose focus on the pokemon, on adventuring (walking!) to find random spawns, be excited for new hatchesā¦ It feels Iām only walking to spin pokestops, do the tasks to get them out of the way and have room for moreā¦
I commented a bit on the ānew pokedex registerā that I hatched a Salandit and I shouldāve been ecstatic, but I wasnāt, really (only after!). I just think it wasnāt fun for me and everything felt a bit like a chore.
I still want to try another research day and see how Iāll feel. I like the concept of it, but actually going through it just makes me anxious.
