Not a lot of discussion re: the recent Go Fest Event on here it seems.
Post away people what you thought, how much or how little you participated in.
Did you stump up the massive $ to be involved and get the Gold Bottle Cap?
Share you pics.
I no longer pay for tickets in this game as I’ve been ripped off (long story I have repeated on here too often so won’t again). They will not get my $ again for an event.
I’m sure plenty groaned at the jump in $ for this event but forked up the $ anyway through FoMo and just having to have that bottle cap.
Yes the bottle would be nice to max one of those you only get one of and it’s always a crap IV Pokémon but I’m not paying that much for it.
Lots of stuff was locked behind the Paywall this event compared to others so there was some real significant advantages to being robbed of your money for once as opposed to my ripped of issue that makes me take the stance I do now.
Did 15 Dog Raids on day one mostly for the Gym Badge points.
No Shinnies, no 100%.
2x Dogs having an IV of 93% 15atk and a 91% 15atk were the best. Rest all 80-70% range.
Played over 200km from home so have a heap of trash for distance trading.
I Raided with the other 3 family accts.
So all combined 60 Raids and only 1 Shiny, no 100% but one acct got a 98% and a 96% with the other 2 poor IV like my main.
Didn’t bother with day 2. I was back home and had other things I could be doing. If dropping crap useless IV numbers is a ploy to get me to use and ultimately pay for more Raid Passes it has the exact opposite affect. It makes it so easy to just say f*** it, I can use my time better and get satisfaction doing something else.
Havent spent anything on tickets either.
I did manage to save up a nice amount of raid passes, mostly due to me not having used them a lot, so I was able to just about get 1000 energy to change zacian into it’s crowded forme.
Nothing tok amazing, i just used the energy on an older zacian.
The only reason I was able to do this is because i accidentally stumbled into a raiding group when i was walking outside so that was a happy little accident.
Didn’t plan on doing much, ended up doing 9 ish zacian raids
Personally I think they had too much stuff locked behind the event ticket to make it really enjoyable for people that don’t pay for tickets. This, of course, is just my opinion, but apart from costume pikachu, there wasn’t really a major attraction for me.
I don’t participate in raids, so that beautiful dog was out of the picture for me, and what was left? There was no shiny boosted odds and most of the pokemon from the different hourly “environments” you could see at other times/past events. I really didn’t like that the normal incense didn’t give you a chance to catch Skiddo, Klefki, Torkoal and Pachirisu or any of the unowns - only with a ticket!
I aimed to get more candy of specific pokemon*, maybe get something with better stats, but nothing more than that.
They didn’t even cut the egg distance, which is a shame for an event that (supposedly) invites you to play for longer periods of time.
I also can’t say I’m a fan of hourly rotating habitats, I wish that had a makeover of some sort for future events.
*electabuzz, tentacool, galarian farfetch and cubone, popplio (candy for primarina!). I only saw 1 togetic.
The Max finale is scheduled for August now.
Nice. This is an event I am not able to miss this time
Got that weekend free (mostly)
My detailed report is coming real soon (I mean it this time). I will also post the results from last year’s GO Fest.
DAY 1
GO Fest is always the most exciting event of the year, but this time it exceeded all of my expectations! But let’s start from the beginning. I was well prepared as always, made a checklist, mega evolved Rayquaza, used incense, star pieces, lucky eggs, lure modules. The weather was perfect, not too hot with an occasional breeze to cool down the temperature. I was at home when GO Fest started and as I was checking the spawns I found my first shiny 12 minutes after the event started!
That never happens to me during GO Fest! The shiny was red Flabébé and it was a new register!
After that, I headed towards the park and I did 1 Zamazenta and 1 Falinks raid. I caught my first new regional yellow Flabébé during 2nd habitat (I already got Skiddo earlier from the special research).
I took 3 snapshots and got all 3 colors on Dapper Pikachu. Then I found my next shiny – Elgyem in 3rd habitat (I already had 1, but I wanted 1 more for the complete shiny family). I also caught my first blue Flabébé!
That wasn’t all Hypnotic Tundra had to offer. Within 30 minutes I got my first shiny Pachirisu (incense), first shiny blue Flabébé (in the wild) and first shiny Frigibax (special research)!
In the next habitat, Fae Swamp, I finally got Klefki
(I could have gotten it sooner, but a friend that promised to trade it to me stopped playing)! After that, something incredible happened – I found my first shiny Unown in the wild – letter S
(the other 2 I had were from a trade and a raid)! Before I went home for lunch, I got another shiny – Fuecoco!
When I got home, I checked the spawns and from incense I got shiny Torkoal, another new regional shiny for me!
During Day 1, I did 5 Zamazenta raids (1 was remote), 4 with my alt account and I didn’t get a shiny or special background on my main, but I got both on my alt! I also did 3 Falinks raids and 1 Frigibax raid. Before Day 1 ended, I got another shiny Unown in the wild!
This time it was letter L! I finished all collection challenges, used party play, did some trades, dynamax raids, powered up some Pokemon and after the last habitat ended, I did my first remote gigantamax Cinderace raid (caught it and it had good IVs).
I didn’t finish the special research for Volcanion and Zamazenta (I chose the shield path) on Day 1, so I left it for Day 2.
Day 1 results:
XP: 389,640
Stardust: 35,416
Distance: 5.7 km
Pokemon caught: 350
Poke stops: 59
Pokemon evolved: 2
Pokemon hatched: 2
Field research tasks: 31
Raid expert: 9
XXS Pokemon: 2
XXL Pokemon: 2
Raids: 4
Legendary raids: 5
Shinies: 9 (7 new)
Hundos: 0
That’s very eventful! I’m amazed by the amount of pokemon caught, too. Do you catch manually or use an auto catcher of some sort?
I don’t think I’ve ever come close to seeing that many pokemon, let alone catch them (also considering the distance covered).
I don’t have an auto catcher, I catch all my Pokemon manually. Here where I live is great for playing Pokemon GO, mainly because I created over 60 Poke stops and Gyms so there are many spawns and I even have 8 spawn points at my home.
Wait until you read about Day 2, many surprises await!
I play in a more chilled area, most of the time, so I don’t have that many spawns. I went to a different pokestop today, for example, and I was met with a sea of eevees, it was quite funny. And a single stop, too, but it was somewhat near gyms, I don’t know if that made a difference. There wasn’t a lure active or anything.
You’ve created so many pokestops, really bringing the game to life in your area.
DAY 2
On Day 2, I evolved Primal Groudon and tried Origin Forme Palkia’s adventure effect Spacial Rend. It was nice, but short and I didn’t want to use more resources. At the start of the event, I got new Unown W. Later, I found my third shiny Unown – letter D!
This day of GO Fest, Zacian was the star. During the second raid, which I did remotely, I got Zacian with the special background!
After that, I found my second shiny – another Pachirisu!
Good to have 2 when global trading comes. I didn’t have to wait long for the next shiny which was Jangmo-o!
It had its Community Day not long ago, but a shiny is a shiny. Before I went home for lunch, I took 3 snapshots and one of them gave me shiny blue Dapper Pikachu!
After lunch and a little rest, I was ready to go back to catching Pokemon. I wanted to finish the special research to get Volcanion. I just did the task to catch 30 different species of Pokemon. I tapped to get the encounter and it was a shiny Fuecoco!
Not bad. But then I checked the IVs. My mouth and eyes wide opened.
It was a shundo!
My first ever shundo!
Finally, after all these years! It was an incredible feeling! What a fantastic GO Fest! But it wasn’t over yet. There was more to come. 19 minutes later, I found my next shiny which I didn’t have before – Cubone!
The very next Pokemon I chose was also a new shiny – Morelull!
2 shinies back to back! Soon after that, I got another shiny Unown S!
4 shiny Unown at the same GO Fest after years of not getting one!
But the surprises weren’t over. Several minutes before the end, I found my last shiny which I didn’t have – Venipede!
Day 2 was amazing! I did 6 Zacian raids and 1 Frigibax. My alt got shiny Zacian. I won 2 showcases (biggest Zacian).

Now that’s what I call a GO Fest! This was the best GO Fest for me! I liked almost everything
: shiny rate was better than before and also shundo rate
, great variety of shinies, got many new ones, regionals, Unown W, costumed Pikachu and Falinks, I got my first Crowned Shield Zamazenta and evolved Skiddo into Gogoat, higher catch rate for legendaries, fully evolved starters and other Pokemon in the wild, legacy moves when you evolve certain Pokemon (I immediately evolved my shundo Fuecoco to get Skeledirge with Blast Burn), 2 special research, animation for Volcanion encounter, avatar T-shirt and pose, field research tasks, global challenges, bonuses, snapshots, stickers, showcases. I didn’t like
: Volcanion that I got in the end had mediocre IVs (2 stars)
, the special background was hard to get, I didn’t get enough Crowned Sword energy for Zacian (too many raids to get it), there was no reduced distance for hatching eggs (but I understand because other events before and after GO Fest had it), there should have been more new Unown besides W (and why on Earth it couldn’t have been shiny?).
This was one of the best GO Fests ever.
It felt like a true GO Fest and it should remain like that for the future GO Fests.
As I promised here are the results from GO Fest 2024.

It’s too much… what you are doing is for people which have to do nothing else during all the day… no family, no work, nothing…
Well, I’m in the age to play exactly this way (66 years), but my wife would kill me if I try to give so many time to the game.
I’m happy that she let me play the way I do (6 accounts in this moments), but these results!!! Too much time… what do the people arround say?
In order to catch and be involved in everything yes it does consume a very large amount of time.
There are times I think it’s almost like a job to play this game with the time required.
Have the game makers made it like this so players don’t have the time to try/play other games so they don’t loose them to the competition?
They prey massively on FoMo.
Once you miss out on a few things in the game it becomes easier to not worrying about having to do and catch everything.
Only the individual can determine if it’s worth the time involved or not.
So many shiny regionals! Now I am kinda bummed I couldn’t play this one, nice job!
