How was Your Community day

I had a great time this past community day, as Machamp is one of my favourite pokemon and I always want more in my collection, not only with great stats but tiny and xxl versions, too (one or two each in the size parameter). I still haven’t found a perfect one, but I’ve got some that are pretty close to it.

My main goal is always to find enough shinies to secure the family, stats being secondary. But, in this case, I was really hoping for a particularly good one so I could have an awesome shiny Machamp. I found a machop in the wild that was better than my usual 0/1 star shiny, but my best one came from that Special Research. I don’t much care for the background, but it’s definitely one of my best shinies in the game, so far.

Lately I hardly ever get any tasks rewarding pokemon when I spin pokestops, during community day, mostly pokeballs/berries and the like, which is a shame. Do you have the same experience? To get better shinies I have to rely on the special research that happens after the day…

I also enjoyed all the machop candy I got during the day, that definitely comes in handy! I just wish I had more of those pinap berries to actually give it a proper boost. I usually have them, but hardly any that day.

First CD for a while that I’ve gotten a little excitement for due to not having any 100% in the collection.
Made it a point to only go for the large CP 100% in order to collect more Candy as going for every possible 100% reduces Candy collection driving from point to point. Stupid me forgot to evolve a Mega to maximise that.
All up happy with the 5x 100% with the very first one being a Shundo.

After returning from hiatus, I got to participate in my first CD in a while, and it was also on the exact day I first started the POGO journey.
Anyways:

My goal for Eevee’s Community Day (weekend) was to get as many shinies as possible, so as to complete all the evolutions, given the randomness associated with the original evolution trio (without using nicknames). I managed that, at least, but I haven’t evolved any of them, as I have yet to decide what gets evolved first.

I also tried to get a very good eevee so I could get a new register: Sylveon. That’s the final one that I am missing! I managed that, it’s just a matter of actually getting the evolution now (all the 7 hearts). I also have one more that I want to evolve into a Leafeon, but I’m going to wait until the research is over, just in case I get new surprises. I don’t want the lures going to waste…

Other than that, my collection was almost complete, with many great stats, so the priority really were the shinies.

I got this beautiful one on Saturday (in the wild):

I have yet to decide what I will turn it into… I just can’t decide! Do I go for my favourite evolution (Umbreon) or my favourite eevee shiny (vaporeon seems the cutest)? I think it’s just a matter of aesthetics here, the ones I use more often are Umbreon - best buddy already -/Vaporeon/Flareon (team rocket and stuff)/Espeon…

Eevee is one of my favourite pokemon, so I really liked the opportunity to catch so many of them and finally have all the shinies (I caught my first one last August). I do wish this event had happened druring cooler weather, though, it’s really getting almost impossible to play for more than 30-60min aroung here, it’s just too hot. Maybe they’ll (one day!) end the event in the evening (at least 6/7pm…), when it’s not as hellish hot as in the afternoon.

I’ll update this post after I finish the speacial research, hopefully I’ll have all the shiny evolutions by then! ( I’ll get Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flameon right the 1st or 2nd time…).

*of those shinies: I have everyone but Jolteon and Vaporeon. I tried the random evolution only to get 5 Flareon.

I still haven’t evolved my best shiny, as I’m unsure what to choose. I really like purple Vaporeon, but Umbreon is calling to me, too. However, I already have a buddy Umbreon, so I wouldn’t be using the shiny that much, even if the stats are good.

Had intentions of playing to hunt 100% in hope of snagging shundo(s).
Come Saturday I had no enthusiasm to to play at all. Opened the game while at home once and caught the home spawns over 10-12min then turned the game off.
Got one Shiny.
Didn’t play Sunday at all. Did my daily Spin and catch earlier in the day when I had to go out. Didn’t turn game on again unit 8pm to do some trades.
Could call it PoGo Fatigue. When you have that feeling you just can’t be bothered with the game. I’ve let my daily streak go twice over the last 2 months feeling the same.

I wish they’d give us a special item to control if Eevee evolves into Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon, because I’m running out of Eevee shinies and only managed to get 5 Flareon so far… nothing else out of that randomness!

I think it could be neat to have an evolution stone, just for the community day or something…

Using the nickname trick for shinies with poor stats, just to have the register and the special community day attack, seems a bit of a waste. Am I overthinking this here?

It’s all part of the evil master plan of making you play more to get what you want.
It’s a pity the name trick only works one time and not give you 2-3 goes to use it.

Yes, it becomes a bit frustrating…

No interest in Quacker CD apart from getting 3x Shiny. Just drove around around in the car for 2 1/2hrs letting the GoPlus and auto catchers get whatever while stopping to take the odd Gym here and there.
Returns were low and well down on the amount of balls used. Did they forget to nerf the catch/flee rate as the normally do for starter CD’s?
Around 140 caught, would have expected just below or up to 220-30.

I didn’t have as much fun in this community day as I did in the previous one, mainly because I had a much harder time getting shinies, as well, and I tried to play for longer than expected, too, to compensate. I don’t think my mood was the best that day either, so for a big part I just wanted to get it over with, which is not the best state of mind to be playing in (apart from the hot weather).

Is the daily incense anti shiny, for some particular reason? I only started playing at around 2h30 and popped that one first, just in case I found any legendary birds, and didn’t see any shinies for the first 30 min. I opened and closed the app, just in case, and nothing. Then I gave it a go with the normal incense and there it was, almost immediately after, too. I thought it was very weird… I started finding them during that incense, but I felt it was much “rarer” than previous community days (for me anyway). This pokemon was also more difficult to catch, so all the wasted pokeballs didn’t help my mood.

Still, I managed enough candies to have all the evolutions (yey for the extra candy bonus!) and Quaquaval became a new register for me, as well as securing a complete shiny family.

All in all:
shinies: 7 in total, after what felt like ages to get them going…
Some ducks with very nice stats, something I struggled with whenever I found Quaxly in the wild, so that’s nice!

Had family visiting, so couldn’t really play. Snagged three shiny Quaxly which I am happy with. Didn’t even know what the shiny looked like tbh, I care very little for Quaxly anyway.

Another low interest CD for me.
Already have the 100% family. Only interest was picking up enough Shiny for the family.
After 2hrs 45min I only had 2 Shiny then got another 2 in the last 15min.
Just drove around letting the GoPlus get whatever while stopping occasionally to do Raids or DMax battles.

I played one part at home and then I went out. It was raining slightly so I could still play. I used incense, mega evolved Rayquaza. I didn’t buy the special research and I forgot to take snapshots this time. I did 2 raids, put my 2 XXL Rookidee in showcases. I used 1/4 hatch distance for incubators to hatch all my 10km and 12km eggs. The results will be posted in the Pick a challenge! thread. I got 12 shinies, even found 2 back-to-back! I evolved 7 Corviknight with Air Cutter. Since I was using party play, I did some field research tasks and got 5 Rookidee with a special background. I also used 1 lucky egg and 1 star piece when I hatched the eggs.

Was away on a weekend trip. Nonetheless I encountered about 100 rookidee, evolved my dynamax corvisquire, found 0 shiny.

I enjoyed this one, especially because it’s a pokemon I find very cute and it has a really cool final evolution. Corvisquire is pretty neat, too, but Corviknight is impressive… different moods, I guess! I really like corvids in real life so the appeal here for me is natural and innevitable.

I already had some birds with very good stats waiting for this day to get evolved into the final stage, so that wasn’t a concern. Finding shinies was the real challenge as that’s been taking me longer of late. I used the normal incense right away, this time, but they were still very shy. Still, I ended up finding quite a few and managed to complete the family.

The weather was nice, not too hot, not too windy and I was in the mood for a long walk, so all in all it was a nice event! I also appreciated the half distance for egg hatching, that always helps.

(I already had a gigantic little bird in my collection before the event, so I was basically very curious if somebody else could top that. Unfortunately no incubator as a reward… that should be more common for 1st place…)
