I honestly dont know, but those are 2 things i could think of that could be the issue.
He’s still doing the mew quests, I’ve not finished mine yet either, he’s not had an update on his phone, hopefully it will appear in time then, he was gutted sly

I’m on vacation right now and the only Wifi is hotel WiFi. I tried on WiFi this morning and the same thing happened.
Mine does similar but all I do is close it and kill full process, reload and back up and running.
