They talk about 3 billion within “ALL” players, not “ONE” player. Quite equal to the the other event when all the world has to unlock some features.
I just worked out: there’s roughly 60 Million players across the world. That comes down to each of us only needing to catch 50 Pokémon to equal the 3 billion. Easy.

Many people on Twitter are mad that Trainer Tips Nick wasn’t in the promotional video for this challenge. I’m quite confused myself. Nick is THE Pokèmon Go Youtuber but he’s not invited in the video.
Some say its because of Draconius GO. Nick made a video about the game. Niantic hated it…
