Oh my God yo are saying what we are all thinking. You took the time to write this and I love you for it. Stay awesome. I used to deal with a group of over 25 spoofers and me and my friends just gave up but now there’s only a few taking gyms because there is no longer a point apart from gym control and badge level but the spoofers I play with realized that they’d benefit more if they stuck with Santa Monica for raiding and catching. The reason they stuck around before this was because of coins but ever since the new gym system they only need one gym.
I’ve noticed spoofing in Pokemon Go is a cycle over this year. If their objectives are just to collect pokecoins by dominating gyms, then what’s next?
The cycle is: (snipping → upgrade the top tier Pokemon → take over the gym → collect the maximum amount of pokecoins → create new account → snipping…)
I’ve been wondering whether spoofers are waiting for the release of trading system to generate money.
Trust me: Search for Spoofers on Twitter, Ebay, Craigslist and you’ll notice on thing. They all sell their services to others.
If you want someone to get you an Entei, ask a Spoofer, he’ll charge you (IDK, like £5.00£ some sum and 1 hour later…Bam! Enjoy your Entei.
Even people like Brandon Tan and Kuboyan, the 2 best PoGo players in the world offer a legendary catching service. Do many buy and sell, that’s why Niantic aren’t heavily policing these sales.
Woah! What a money-making system! That’s why legit players claim that Niantic are forgiving spoofers because of the sales. Yeah I get it, spoofers are divided into 2 groups.(money-making or rather people with disabilities) You therefore realise people should be neutral on this topic as Niantic does.
Too bad ! How horrifying will trading system in Pokemon GO be?
That’s why I doubt we will ever see trading in this game. Example: rather than negotiating a ditto for an Unown (not a realistic trade, i know) you can buy an entire level 30 account for as little as £3.00 on Ebay. Seriously, look it up, it’s ridiculous and it makes many a lot of .
Argh real cash flow will make an appearance in trading system. If then, it might be a bad news to us (trading is in development and will be released very soon) stated by Niantic.
Much like Spoofing, Niantic cannot stop someone buying an account because it’s (in many ways) out of their hands. I guarantee when trading eventually comes out they would have to install some kind of Bluetooth system to make it work. Then people will find a way to manipulate Bluetooth…the cycle will never end.
Spoofing is going to continue in the game as long as it remains relatively popular. Niantic is battling a legion of really smart people who work collectively to find ways to skirt the system.
in my opinion Niantic should spend more time addressing new content, game stability and making events work better and less time dealing with this problem. The worst thing that happens from spoofing is that you lose a gym or 2 or 10. I lose gyms to local people every day so to me that isn’t even really a bid deal.
Honestly I’m getting a little tired of all the petty bickering about it in the forums. We all know it violates the TOS and consequently is wrong. it gets old to see the same person stirring the pot and the same people getting mad and arguing back. I hope we can focus on more productive things than this.
And Niantic will never prevent 100% of the players from cheating.
Certainly Niantic has the same thought as you. Spoofing is not worthwhile to be handled with, so that they’re now working on things like gen 3 and PvP.
I agree with everyone here but here’s a question I ask what about someone that lives in the middle of no where and the closest pokestop is around an hour away and closest gym even farther. If they spoofed just to be able to catch Pokémon but never took over gyms what’s the issue there? It seems everyone’s complaint is spoofers take the gyms for coins and I agree that’s in no way fair but what about the people that that don’t take the gyms but spoof just have pokestops and Pokémon and the ability to play? Or the people that are disabled and don’t have the ability to move around? Is it fair for them to be fans of the game and want to play but never get to due to things they can’t control? So long as they aren’t taking over gyms and never leaving them to rack up coins I don’t see an issue if they spoof so they can be able to play the game and bought poke-coins if they ever needed them.
Spoofing is (as a LOT of people have said) something that is not going away in a hurry. It is also not something that has as much impact as it used to. Spoofers used to be able to put 20, 30, 50 mons in gyms & collect coins for having them there if they stayed there for 24+hrs. Now the max is 50 coins per 24hrs for ALL mons placed then knocked out. This is (or should be) a deterrent for most who spoof & bot.
So are spoofers still really ruining the game? From my POV, no. They get the same amount of coins as anyone else (notwithstanding they may have multiple accounts) and can place the same number of mons in gyms (but if you’re worried about gyms that have multiple ‘spoofer’ mons in them - maybe farm some potions & spend 20mins taking it down…).
It takes 3 rounds to defeat most gyms if you know what you’re doing (if you don’t, search YouTube for battle tips from Trainer tips or Prodigies Nation) so there’s no reason to still be winging about spoofers in gyms.
**For rural players, please take this post with a grain of salt - I’m in an urban location in Australia with the ability to farm stops/mons for revives & potions daily travelling to & from work on public transport, so this post represents MY point of view, not those who don’t have that luxury.
I’ll agree with that. My defense of spoofers is because of people I know. I personally am able to drive out to the nearest pokestops and gyms on a daily basis and do so as I work in that area, but that’s around a hour to hour and half drive from the town I live in. However I have a friend who is disabled and unable to do so. I’ll agree he could take some form of public transportation but the issue there is when you live in extremely poor rural Eastern Kentucky there is no public transportation services in our town or area. So the only way he is able to play is to spoof which I have no problem with. He doesn’t take and hold gyms he only catches mons farms pokestops and helps do raids. If he wants coins he’s always bought them so I personally don’t have a problem with people like him spoofing because otherwise how do they receive fair and equal opportunity to play.
in this game all cheat…using car is like spoof…thats all
No it isn’t, and only a moron would make such a comparison. That or someone just trying to justify their own cheating. Spotting you guys is so easy.
Can we stop confusing impact with prevalence.
Also there is a huge difference between a deterrent and removing motivation.
Perhaps I am nitpicking your word choice. But given the context of your post, its purpose is to paint spoofers in a much more positive, or less negative light. I’m sorry but I can’t let that slide.
For the average person their gym participation and coin collection has gone up. So the gym rework was a win. Also given that all players are limited to 50 coins motivation for monopolizing a gym has diminished. Spoofers are inherently selfish people. @ironman presents the most recent of tall tales to justify spoofing. I can tell you that even if his story is true… it is absolutely the exception and not the rule. Unless this country has suddenly become full of people who are disabled. Because spoofers are selfish they don’t really need a reason to do what they do, and they don’t care the impact it has on others. Perhaps their ONLY motivation is to get gold in as many gyms as possible, perhaps they just like knowing they’re pissing people off. I don’t cheat and quite frankly don’t associate with those that do.
Because gyms are now more accessible than they were in the past I have become acutely aware of who is and who isn’t a real player. While I may have been blissfully ignorant and the spoofers may have had deniability with the way gyms were previously. Now I know who is legit and who isn’t and its alarming the number of people who cheat.
Here in Riverside county in California, we have a fairly populated city/county. But it still isn’t anything like the big city (like Los Angeles or Anaheim) I can’t ever just walk up to a raid and know that people are going to be there raiding. While Riverside has a population of 325k, its still a struggle sometimes to get 6+ to make a raid (some areas are easier than others). I live in a city of only 88k. We have used social media to create communities to communicate and organize raids. Some days we’ll spend several hours hitting up various raids throughout the city and neighboring cities.
I say this because these communities have a very strong commitment to refrain from cheating, and not to include or support cheaters as we value the INTEGRITY of the game, the spirit of the game, the purpose of the game. I have to get up and drive 15 minutes at least to meet up with people to play. Now granted that’s a far cry from someone in a small town in Kentucky… who may only have 1 pokestop within an hours reach. Quite frankly though I doubt I’d even bother playing if I was in that situation. That might sound harsh, and I am by no means taking the “Well then don’t play!” position… but I’d honestly probably look for another game to satisfy my poke-fix. I enjoy the game… but it isn’t SO fun that I’d spoof to play, and doing it out of necessity would get old… fast. Which brings me back to my point that THESE spoofers are the exception and not the rule. So it almost isn’t even worth the anecdote. All it does it muddy the waters and the real douchebags that live in a big city, and could be playing legitimately just can’t be bothered to go outside, just get a new excuse… oh ya me too… I’m disabled, and live in podunk (no offense) county… don’t hate me… I NEED to spoof.
Only morrons can write bullsih like you.I know meny players(legit) and all use calculators, maps and other stuff.Making any advantage is unfair. You can now write book of stupidity.
Guys calm down! Jeez! Stop fighting and discuss the topic like normal people!
To much bickering. We can be more productive than where this is headed
