My favourite starter Pokémon from each Gen are:
Gen I - Bulbasaur - I think it’s the cutest starter Pokémon from that Generation, I Iove everything about it
Gen II - Cynaquil - that’s the best Starter from that Generation, because I think that Chikorita and Totodile are really ugly
Gen III - Mudkip - because everyone liek Mudkipz
Gen IV - Turtwig - I love Tortoises
Gen V - Tepig - it looks really cute, and pigs are cute also
Gen VI - Chespin - because it looks funny
Gen VII - Popplio - it’s really underrated Pokémon, that’s why I love it

Besides that, my fave is probably Rowlet, its adorable and the only ghost-type starter
I’ve only played Pokemon Go so my favorites are Squirtle and Totodile. My son plays the games on his 3DS, so he would probably have a better idea of what all the starters can do than I would.
