I like to level things up as if I was going to use it imminently against an upcoming Raid Boss. It helps me manage stardust expenditure.

MASSIVE LEVEL UP SPREE!!
Unlike last time, the focus this time was a lot more fluid. In another thread, I posted six Level 50s, and that was my primary focus. For the level 40s, after I leveled up potential assets against future Legendaries and Mega Evolutions, I simply stuck to the “leftovers” that either might contribute something later or had other individual reasons.
