I’m on an I phone 7 having the same problem multiple times a day!
I can’t even play most of the time now.

It’s been a lot better for me since update last week
I have allways problems when Niantic wants to sent an information in the starting screen.
Normally my phone is On 24/7, so there has to be a special reason for me to shut down and start again. And this reason is normally that PoGo doesn’t work. And so I reset my phone, start PoGo again, and 99% I find a notification of a new Raid-Boss, a new Investigation, etc on the screen.
We couldn’t even login today on Android or IOS… Using Google and Trainer club login methods… way to go Niantic. Eastern Europe btw
