The recent launch of levels beyond 40 seem to present us with a choice for posts to this thread, as “MAXed Out” and “L40” are not the same, any more.
Well, it is still the highest you can get to without the ridiculously expensive XL candies
Its going to be quite awhile before I’ll get anything Powered up to L50.
We now have the old MAX (40) and New MAX L(50).
Both are worthy topics as L40 Pokémon are Dust and Candy which are both readily available.
L50 Pokémon are much harder to achieve atm with limited ability to collect XL Candy.
Kudos to the first person that Powers something up to L50. My Pidgeot is currently L42.5.
I’ll give it more time before starting that topic otherwise it will just end up buried behind a few 100 topics.
Keeping the level 40 topic seems like a fine choice since it’s quite a threshold of its own. I was holding off on posting anything in case this topic was going to get shuttered, but here’s two new ones I leveled up a week ago: one for the Level 41 qualifications, and the other because it was a Fire-type I would like to use soon.

Those “Level 40”, “Perfect IVs”, and “Mega Evolution” labels look interesting and potentially useful, @Arem1771. Where did they come from? I don’t see any sign that you’re using Poke Genie or Calcy IV…
They’re tags, a new feature put into Pokemon GO. Basically they allow you to sort Pokemon as you see fit, and yes, they are VERY useful. The only thing you can’t do–yet–is create battle teams using the tags, so using a “Great League” tag wouldn’t be avisable, but everything else works great.
The one I created doesn’t show up like yours did. How did you get them to show?
You have to place Pokémon in the tag groups. You can either mass add them–lower left button that looks like a Pikachu with a plus sign–or you can add them one at a time in the Pokemon’s profile–the same menu where you can transfer them, appraise them, transfer them, etc.
When I got to Level 43, it demanded I level up a Pokemon 43 times. Rude. Anyway, it gave me an excuse to level up this pairing:
New Level 40, in case I get to use Mega Venusaur against Regirock this weekend.
SPOILER ALERT: I did.
Prepped for Registeel. It’s so good to have this one at Level 40 now.
I count any Team GO Rocket capture as a wild catch as it has the same IV odds as any wild capture.
Can’t figure out what Team GO Rocket captures have to do with this. But nice Swampert.
After pumping Stardust and Rare Candy into Metagross with Meteor Mash for Black Kyurem, I decided it was time to start pumping my Shadow Mewtwos up to 40. I expect them to see action soon…
One has Psystrike and the other Shadow Ball, fwiw…
I’ve also recently powered this beast up to Level 40. I’ve used it against a bunch of Meowth Balloons already. Really works.
What move set are you using on Meowth Balloons?
Does the Swamp Rat clean up all 3 Pokémon?
I’m currently doing those with a 93% L40 Reshiram. It’s roughly 60-70% all that’s needed for the 3 in either set.
